Workshop on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace ”Organised by Bank of Baroda Staff College, Ahmedabad in collaboration with NCW on 18th Nov., 2011

Bank of Baroda, one of the leading Public Sector Bank of the Country and recipient of various numerous awards and accolades of being the Best Bank hosted an awareness workshop on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace” for its Women workforce in collaboration with National Commission for Women. The workshop was conducted at Bank of Baroda’s Apex Training College i.e. Staff College, Ahmedabad on 18th November, 2011. The programme was attended by Lady Officers from Gujarat, U.P., Maharastra / Mumbai, South, North / MP / Rajasthan and East-Kolkata / Orissa / Bihar

Dr. Charu WaliKhanna, Member, National Commission for Women was the Guest speaker at the Workshop along with Mrs. Vindya Ramesh, Deputy General Manager (Marketing) and Chief Lady Liaison Officer of Bank of Baroda at the Corporate Office. 

Dr. Charu WaliKhanna. complimented Bank of Baroda in having taken a proactive step in organizing this workshop. She emphasized on the fact that Women have the right to work in a safe environment and enjoy equal pay, benefits and opportunities for advancement. Sexual harassment at the workplace infringes the fundamental right of a Woman to gender equality as guaranteed under Article 14 of the Constitution of India and her right to life and live with dignity, under Article 21, which includes right to a safe, environment free from sexual harassment. 

There was an open house session and sharing of experiences. The same was supplemented through a Role Play on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace.

The participants witnessed the release of the book “Speak, Resist, Report, Sexual Harassment at Workplace” in the presence of Dr. Charu WalkiKhanna, Mrs. Vindhya Ramesh and Mr. S.N.Sharma, Principal and Deputy General Manager, Bank of Baroda Staff College, Ahmedabad. This book release was a testimony exhibiting Bank of Baroda’s contribution towards spreading and building awareness on the captioned subject and to empower women at all levels. 

While proposing the Vote of Thanks Mr. S.N.Sharma highlighted that bank has adopted progressive HR Policies for Women employees and as part of the Women Centric initiatives special efforts for grooming female employees who are Branch Heads was undertaken. Similarly, exclusive programmes for lady officers were conducted in the area of Credit and Retail Banking.
